A Guide to Home Theater Installation

Published by Jennifer under Home Theater Installation

Home theater installation can be a very easy process, as long as you understand the equipment and know at least a bit about what you are doing. You want to be comfortable when you are performing home theater installation, and remember if at any point you do not feel sure about the installation, a better idea may be for you to hire a professional to get the job done for you.

The Basics

Before you start any home theater installation you should be aware of the basics. First you will have to be aware of the key pieces of equipment you are going to need, which includes a television, at least five speakers, a subwoofer, DVD player, and an audio/video receiver. There are many other components you can include as well but this is what you should start with.

Getting Started

You are going to have to have at least a basic plan of the home theater installation process before you actually get started. Remember that the best system in the world is only as good as how it is set up, and even just a few hours of planning beforehand can really save you a ton of time and trouble down the road.

You should know where you want all the different pieces of your home theater system and remember to consider where outlets are in the room you are setting up in so that you can try to avoid having cables and wires hanging out anywhere if possible. There are also many programs that will let you map out your room and electronically move around the furniture to give you a better idea of what things will look like in certain positions.

Follow Instructions

Even if you have performed other home theater installation procedures in the past, it is important that you follow the specific instructions you have been given. Each manufacturer is different and so rather than just assuming it will be set up the same, you should read the directions and follow these closely.

Once you have the system up and running, there are still a few things you are going to have to do before you will actually be finished. Of course you have to test the system to make sure everything is working properly, and you want to make sure that sound is coming out of each of the speakers.

If there is anything wrong you will need to check the wiring and hopefully nothing major will need to be fixed.

The Essentials Of Good Home Theater Systems

Published by Jennifer under Home Theater Systems

People always want to know what makes up good home theater systems and how affordable is it?  You can buy ready made home theater systems and just set them up in your favorite television watching room but that takes some of the fun out of it and also takes any ability to customize the system out of it as well.  There are a few basic parts you will need for any of your home theater systems and you can mix and match however you want.

Television

Most of the home theater systems I have seen have an emphasis on a big screen with clear picture.  You should make sure that whatever television you get is high definition, or HD, ready.  Most of them are but be sure to find that out.  You can get a pretty large projection television for a lot cheaper than you may think and as long as you stick with the HD feature on all of your equipment then you will get great quality at low price.

Stereo Or Surround

Some people want just home theater systems and either have no use for a stereo or will use the digital music channels they get from their cable or satellite provider as their radio.  You still need to play CDs though and I just wanted to throw that out there. You can get just surround sound systems designed for home theater systems that have a receiver, a sub woofer for the base sound, and then satellite speakers to place around the room.  Don’t let the size fool you, these systems work great.  But whether you get a full stereo or you get a surround sound system make sure it is Dolby 5.1 surround compatible because that will make all the difference in the world.

DVD Player

I am going to be different here and recommend that whatever DVD player you get you try and get the combo unit that plays VHS tapes as well.  You may regret not being able to play VHS tapes and not many home theater systems will recommend that.  I just think it is good to have. I am not sure how sold the world is on Blu-Ray DVDs which are higher resolution DVDs and I say  that because of the advent of HD DVDs which I believe will be the norm in a very short time.  So you may want to make sure whatever DVD player you get is HD DVD compatible and spend a couple of bucks on your DVD player, you want to make sure you get a nice one.

Big Chair And Popcorn

What?  You needed someone to tell you how to watch movies?  Enjoy!

Owning Effective Home Theater Equipment

Published by Jennifer under Home Theater Equipment

Owning good home theater equipment is essential to any home theater. This equipment consists of many components but when used as one total unit will make an exceptional home theater. Home theater equipment comes in all price ranges and it is absolutely imperative to do your homework before purchasing any of it. A home theater is quite expensive when done appropriately and it would be a shame to purchase an inferior piece of equipment which can undo your entire home theater.

The Projector Screen

When the decision has been made to create your home theater then the first piece of equipment you must consider is your home projector screen. This is without a doubt the most important piece of home theater equipment you will need. You cannot provide the correct size imaging of the room without a good projector screen. If you image is too large or too small your home theater will not be a pleasant experience. Your image is only as good as its projector screen, so having a good state of the art projector screen is imperative. Another part of the home theater equipment puzzle is the fabric that the image is projected onto. If you are on a budget, this is an area which you can save money on. A plain white matte surface will suffice for this fabric. Remote controls and in-line switches are two more options in home theater equipment, as well as, portable screens, trip-pods and tabletop screens. It all decides on how much money you want to spend and what size of room you are transforming into a home theater. The sound system is also a very important piece of home theater equipment. This is a piece of equipment that you definitely do not want to skimp on.

Good seating is also a major part of home theater equipment. Stadium seating is very popular in home theaters and come in varying degrees of recliners and leathers. Overstuffed sofas and ottomans, as well as essential coffee tables are also very necessary for comfortable home theaters. The design of your home theater is entirely up to you, but the company who sells home theater equipment will have plenty of ideas and designs for the entire custom look you are seeking. Of course, you can go from the straight sleek home theater to a quite lavish and ornate home theater. Today, people are doing all kinds of innovative and creative things to their home theaters to customize their own look. But all home theater owners are in agreement that it is very necessary to have all the right components of home theater equipment to make their home theaters complete.
